Welcome To The Richmond Synchro Family
At Richmond Synchro, we believe every child deserves the chance to experience the magic of skating — whether it’s their first glide or their hundredth. Our community of coaches, parents, and skaters works together to create a supportive, uplifting atmosphere where young athletes in the Richmond area can thrive.
What Is Aspire 1 Synchronized Skating?
Aspire 1 is our entry-level synchronized skating team designed for beginner skaters. Most team members are learning or have recently completed Snowplow Sam through Basic 1–4 in the Learn to Skate USA curriculum. No prior synchronized skating experience is needed!
Aspire 1 is ideal for:
- Ages 13 and under
- Skaters working on forward and basic backward skating
- Families looking for an encouraging, skill-building team experience
Whether your child is just starting out or has some experience, Aspire 1 provides the perfect first step into team skating.

How Aspire 1 Synchronized Skating Works
Aspire 1 runs from early fall through spring, aligning with the Richmond Synchro season. Practices include both on-ice and off-ice training, focusing on:
Forward and backward skating techniques
Basic team formations like lines, circles, and blocks
Coordination and timing
Skaters typically practice once a week and participate in local competitions like the South Atlantic Synchro Open, giving them a taste of performance in a fun and supportive environment.
Aspire 1 teams do not advance to sectionals, so the emphasis remains on development and enjoyment.
Learning The Essentials
Your skater will begin learning the core elements of synchronized skating, including:
Formations:
Circle, line, block, wheel, intersection
Edges & timing:
Building control and coordination
Teamwork:
Moving as one, following cues, and encouraging peers
These skills set the stage for progression into Aspire 2.
